A Simple Way to Save Business Receipts

Receipts are easy to lose. They often end up in wallets, vehicles, shopping bags, desk drawers, or coat pockets.

The easiest way to manage receipts is to save them immediately.

After making a business purchase, take a clear picture of the receipt with your phone. Make sure the store name, date, total, and purchased items are readable.

Save the picture in a folder organized by month. For example:

January 2026 Receipts

February 2026 Receipts

March 2026 Receipts

You can also add a short note explaining what the purchase was for. This is especially helpful when thereceipt contains unclear item names.

For online purchases, save the order confirmation or final receipt. Do not rely only on the charge appearingin your bank account. A bank charge may show where you spent money, but it may not show what youpurchased.

Paper receipts can fade over time, so keeping a digital copy is helpful even when you save the original.

A good receipt-saving habit only takes a few seconds. Those few seconds can prevent hours of searchingand guessing later.
